"A comprehensive mind-body fitness program, [and] Kijo (kee-jo) is the brainchild of Berkeley resident Shelly Ross, who spent more than 15 years as a personal trainer and Nia instructor at various East Bay gyms. Drawing on her Hungarian roots, Ross named her new fitness program Kijo, which means snake in Hungarian. Building on her black belt Nia training, Ross has incorporated martial arts, dancing, and healing arts into Kijo while adding weights and interval training."

"My love for movement, meditation, being fit and healthy, music, our planet, celebration, sacredness and a loving accepting community has lead me to KIJO. My background as a personal trainer and black belt Nia teacher combines and gives you the highest level movement and fitness class. My oath is to give you physical fitness within the framework of self expression encouraging you to be present to your physical and emotional state. With that being said you can start to view any challenges from a different perspective. You create a conscious form of healing and being using your own wisdom and insights to health and wellness."
